Kuniaki Yamamura – DAILY PAINTING
September 29 (Sun) – October 6 (Sun), 2019
Closed on September 30 and October 1
Venue: Yasaka Gallery Ginza
7-10-8 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo

Kuniaki Yamamura was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1942. After graduating from Musashino Art University, he began exhibiting his works in the 1960s at venues such as Sakura Gallery and Shirota Gallery.

In the 1970s, he developed his distinctive "key-shaped" form, a motif he has continued to paint to this day. "Ever since arriving at this form, I’ve lost interest in painting anything else," Yamamura says.

Over the course of nearly 50 years, he has continued to paint steadily, almost daily, sometimes spending several years on a single canvas until fully satisfied.

This exhibition, titled Daily Painting, commemorates the publication of the book of the same name (edited by Tetsuya Oshima and published by SHUMOKU GALLERY). It features around 20 new, previously unexhibited works by Yamamura, now 77 years old, showcasing his ever-evolving, vibrant, and powerful artistic vision.
