We will listen to the rare audio recording of Takiguchi’s 1962 lecture “What is Beauty”, delivered at his alma mater, Toyama Prefectural High School. Archival footage will be screened simultaneously, followed by commentary from Nobuhiko Dobuchi, a leading expert on Takiguchi's work.
SHUMOKU GALLERY is pleased to present an exhibition of works by Shūzō Takiguchi (1903–1979, born in Toyama Prefecture), a multifaceted figure known as a poet, art critic, and artist.
This exhibition focuses on Takiguchi’s work as a visual artist, featuring primarily his decalcomania works—one of his signature techniques.
This is a rare opportunity to experience Takiguchi’s art in Nagoya, the first such occasion in 13 years since the 2003 Nagoya City Art Museum exhibition “Shūzō Takiguchi: Beyond Automatism.” We look forward to welcoming you.
