The Okazaki Shinkin Bank Archive, originally built in 1917 as the head office of the former Okazaki Bank, was designed by architect Teiji Suzuki. The building, constructed with abundant red brick and granite that reflect both the gravity and modernization of the era, has been designated a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. Today, it serves as a space for exhibitions related to art and currency.

Following previous exhibitions in 2015 and 2016, this third project by SHUMOKU GALLERY will present a solo exhibition by Aichi-based artist Noriyori Shirakawa (b. 1969).

Shirakawa has consistently explored the theme of capturing light within the pictorial space, producing works characterized by their distinctive color and atmosphere through the use of diverse materials.

This exhibition will be the artist’s first retrospective, showcasing a wide range of works from the early 2000s to his most recent pieces. We warmly invite you to experience his evolving vision.
